The story of Emma and Maurits is the kind of stuff Hollywood movies are made of.
High school sweethearts, having lost each other’s tracks for over two decades, only to be brought back together by a twist of fate right here in the Hague. Maurits had been pursuing an international career that landed him on a secondment in the Hague for three months. Emma is a freelance web designer and therefore has the flexibility to work online from anywhere she pleased.
The one thing that was certain was they surely weren’t going to let each other slip away again. Six months on, Maurits got down on one knee and asked Emma to be by his side for the rest of their lives. And of course, she said “Yes!”.
The lovely couple found us through word of mouth, and the fact we were all based in the same city made it very easy to arrange a meeting in person straight away. We got on to the planning stage from that very day, and after a few more meetings, we had agreed on everything and we were good to go! Emma and Maurits chose to revive their romantic childhood memories and therefore wanted to marry in Greece. For the rest, all choices were open when we saw each other on the first appointment.
Starting from scratch is always a challenge, but it does have its benefits too.
We had the flexibility to present a wide range of options to the couple, in terms of locations for their Greek wedding, its overall theme and some extra add-ins for their big day. And in the end, they fell in love with the idea of getting married in the beautiful Greek island of Sifnos!
With the planning stage being finalised, the execution was all up to us. We organised the wedding list and got in touch with all the guests, helping them out with their travel arrangements and hotel reservations. We also organised the transfers to the island, for those guests who were transiting through Athens.
And of course, we kept an open line with the wedding venue in Sifnos, the photographers, the decorators and the DJ, keeping Emma and Maurits always up to date.
The result was a Greek wedding celebration with all the little details taken care of and no added stress. Could that be how your Greek wedding starts too? Send us a quick message today and let’s find out!
